The Everest two pass trek is a trek with its path passing through two of the highest and most scenic passes in the Himalayas topped by the Everest base camp and the Gokyo Lakes.
The Base camp trek of Everest in the Himalayas is a popular choice amongst trekking lovers. Adding the two significant passes completes the trek with more trekking in the central and southern part of this region. Day to Day Itinerary
You will meet and introduce to our representative from Himalayan Pic Du Midi today after your arrival in TIA, Kathmandu. He/ She will approach you with a placard with your name. After some formal welcoming, you will head towards your hotel in Thamel, Kathmandu. Freshen up, and after some snacks, we will do a quick orientation session about this tour in our office. Here you will also meet your guide for the journey. After that, you will be transferred back to your hotel. In the evening you can wander around the sites nearby and peek into the Newari culture. Overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.
After a quick breakfast, you will head towards a culture-packed tour of the Kathmandu valley. Our first site for today is the Basantapur Durbar square. It lies near your hotel and was the royal palace of former Malla kings of the valley. After a brief tour of the palace, head towards the Buddhist shrine of Swyambhunath. This stupa complex provides a great view of Kathmandu valley. Swyambhunath or “The Monkey Temple," because of the abundance of monkeys habituating the hill is one of the oldest temples in Nepal. After that, we will head towards the Hindu shrine of Pashupatinath, and the Tibetan styled Stupa of Boudhanath in quick succession. Return to your hotel and prepare for the trek with the aid of your guide. You can get all the necessary gears and equipment for this trek in Thamel. Rest and prepare to leave Kathmandu early tomorrow. Overnight at Hotel.
After a quick light breakfast at your hotel, you will take an early morning flight from TIA to Lukla. Lukla is the starting point for almost all of the Everest region treks. The scenic flight will take you from the valley of Kathmandu to an adventure packed landing in Lukla. After some time in Lukla, you will start your trek towards Phakding. Along the trail, you will get the first glance of the Himalayas. After a steep descend you will reach the Cheplung village providing you a close view of Mt. Khumbila. Locals consider this beautiful mountain to be sacred and climbing is disapproved here. We continue gradually descending until we reach the village of Phakding today. Overnight at Phakding.
The trail from Phakding to Namche is mostly alongside the Dudh Koshi River with multiple crossings over it. From the Benkar village in the path, we can see a grand view of Mt. Thamserku (6608m). After taking a quick break here, we will push further the Monjo village. Also the entrance of the Sagarmatha national park region, we will get our permits checked here and continue walking. We will be walking in a scenic trail in a subtropical forest crossing multiple plains and streams. Himalayan birds and also some of the migratory birds are encountered in this section of our trail. We will pass through many small villages and make a brief stop at Jorsale village before Namche. Hiking further will take you to Namche, a beautiful Sherpa settlement in the Himalayas. Today will be your first of three days in the itinerary, we selected for acclimatization and resting in this Trek. Lying in the altitude of 3,440m Namche Bazaar is a perfect strategic place to acclimatize before further pushing to higher destinations. One likes to spend more time here because of the lively atmosphere and friendly people. After breakfast, we will start our exploration of surrounding villages and monasteries from Namche. First, we hike to the Everest view hotel via Syangoche and enjoy the mesmerizing Himalayan view here. After a tea break here, we will head towards the Khumjung village. The Khumjung monastery here holds the relic (scalp) of Yeti.
Namche is also an important commercial center for the locals of the Himalayas. So, staying here is also an opportunity to learn more about the lifestyle and culture of people in the mountains. You can get supplements necessary for the trip here with the provision of different leisure adventure activities. You can climb up to small hills surrounding to view the majestic sunrise falling upon the Everest from here. You can also keep yourself busy by hiking to the nearby Sherpa village and watching their way of living.
In the evening you can spend some time with your fellow travelers in the restaurants and trying the local delicacies. Overnight at Namche Bazaar.
We will start our day early, and a quick warm up and breakfast will do it. After breakfast, we will take a path leading to Phurte. This section is comfortable with a less winding and broad trail. Once in Phurte, we will take a short break and start our gradual upward walk towards Samde. We will walk to the village of Thame. Thame, a Himalayan village, is home to some of the biggest names in the mountanineering history of the world. Apa Sherpa and Kami Rita Sherpa are two of the legendary figures having climbed Mt. Everest 21 and 24 times before. Similarly, Thame is also the childhood home of Tenzing Norgay Sherpa. Overnight at Thame.
Our trek today will start after a light breakfast and warm-up before heading to the trail crossing Hungmo. We will encounter coniferous forest in the path section today mingling with some green alpine ones. Passing small streams and rivers, you will have a dipping trail to Tarngga. After a brief stop here, you will cross the river and head towards Dingjung. Kyarok Gompa lies near your trail to Lunden. You can visit the monastery and the arts inside and continue to the upper route to Lunden. From this path in the ridges, you can have breathtaking views of the Himalayas and the landscape. We move forward from this scenic section of the trek towards the village of Lunden. Overnight at Lunden.
Lunden stands in an altitude of 4,380 meters, and it is normal to feel a little altitude sickness here. Further elevation in a short time might prove to be a wrong choice for most of the trekkers. So you will have a standard acclimatization day in Lunden today. Lunden, being a favorite acclimatization stop for people going to the Renjo La pass, is a place in a picturesque location. You can hike up to the surrounding hills and enjoy the view today. Similarly, you can also keep yourself busy with short hikes to the nearby hill or viewpoints for natural and scenic views. Overnight at Lunden.
Renjo La pass is the first pass of the two passes with the base camp trek. The elevation difference is most significant in this trek stretch as the descent is more than 1000 meters from Lunden. One of the most scenic sections of the path is abundant of spectacular mountain views, Himalayan villages, and wildlife. We will wake up early in the morning precisely between 2 and 3 am to cross the pass. This is because of the heavy wind making it impossible to cross if done too late. Starting from Lunden, you will begin your hike to Renjo La pass (5360m). We will cross two ponds in the way and walk beside a moraine to while trekking to the pass. Towards the top, you can find yourself in one of the most challenging paths. Once you are in the top, you will be relieved by the feat you have achieved by these majestic and mystifying passes. The view of the Himalayas looks better than ever from the Renjo La pass. After some pictures, you will start your descent to Gokyo valley (4790m). Lying at significantly lower altitude one can have a comfortable time in Gokyo valley. Overnight at Gokyo.
Gokyo Valley is a small valley gifted with Himalayan scenery and Gokyo Lakes in the Khumbu glacier region. From the village, you can view Mt. Everest, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, Makalu, and several other significant mountains. The lakes and Peaks behind it give some of the most picturesque views in the trek, and you can loosen yourself a bit more in these places. The tour of the Gokyo lakes which is a brief walk to the major five lakes of the Gokyo region is also a popular hike selection. After some exploration session we will trek to the Dragng. Overnight at Dragng.
Today you will cross the second of the two major passes in the Everest region, the Cho La pass (5420m). We will wake up early in the morning precisely between 2 and 3 am to cross the pass. This is because of the heavy wind making it impossible to cross if done too late. You will leave Dragng to reach among the highest places of your journey. You will take either a trail through the top of a hill or a moraine one to reach there. Once you reach the base to start the steep climb to the pass, the trail becomes steep and slippery. Slow and gradual ascending will take you to the top portion of the pass with prayer flags and a board saying Cho La. Once you take some photos here, you can view a spectacular 360-degree view from the top. From an easy trail halfway, you will have to pass a steep and challenging descent in the final stretch to Dzongla. Overnight at Dzongla.
Today will only be a short and easy trek which is well required after the high altitude treks as Everest base camp and Kalapatthar is back to back from today. After a light breakfast, you will head towards a path alongside the Khumbu Glacier leading to Lobuche. Throughout the path, you can stumble upon multiple tombstones, Mani walls, Stupas, and chortens. After a dip, you will start your gradual ascend to Lobuche starting from the Chola Tsho Lake. This lake lies in the way and followed by a smaller lake in the path. After walking a couple of hours from the Lake we will have a snowy ascend to reach the Lobuche village. Overnight at Lobuche.
Today you will take a walk to Gorak Shep after a light breakfast at Lobuche. After your visit to the vast Gorak Shep Lake, you will take a path leading to the Indian army mountaineers memorial. In the evening, we will head towards Kalapatthar. Kala Patthar is a familiar name for those who are planning for Everest base camp visit. A natural Viewpoint in a plain landform with a south-face view of Everest, Nuptse, Changtse and Lhotse, Kalapatthar looks dazzling during the sunrise and sunset too. Kalapatthar gives you a panoramic view of Hymalian heaven right in front of you standing tall and beautiful. One of the most beautiful places to be in the whole planet you will make the most of it in a brief time in Kala Patthar. Only an hour hike from Gorak Shep you will reach Kala Patthar. After taking some pictures at the iconic Kalapatthar, you will return to Gorak shep. Overnight at Gorak Shep.
Today you will make your way to the primary destination the trek as Everest Base Camp. The path ahead to the Base camp can be misleading because of the similar landscape and diminishing trails. Follow your guide as you gain more altitude gradually before finally reaching the Everest base camp at 5364 meters of altitude. Once in the Base camp, you can see the Everest closer than ever as you can just reach its summit stretching your arms.
Similarly, one can also have a close-up view of some of the magnificent mountains in the surrounding like Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Pumori, and Khumbutse. With a 360 degree view of snowcapped peaks, you will have an opportunity to chat with some of the summit trekkers and some of the successful climbers in the base camp too. Carrying heart full of inspiration and stories of your journey till now you will return to Gorak Shep for the Night.
The trek from Lobuche to Pheriche is mild and gradual descend with amazing natural sceneries surrounding you. You will pass through many Himalayan settlements among which you can take a short break in Dingboche. You will pass some seasonal yak herding place, and one can view the Ama Dablam and Amphu Labsa mountains adjacent of here. The trail loses more elevation crossing occasional streams and finally reaches a small Himalayan settlement. From here, continue walking in the scenic trail leading to Pheriche. Overnight at Periche.
We have a short and scenic trek ahead of us today. In our walking program, we can meet the locals and try the regional delicacies. The Sherpas and other locals of these areas have perfected their art of living in these areas. You can stop and spend some time in many of these places. In the late afternoon, you will reach Tengboche. Visit the Tengboche Monastery which is the biggest monastery in the Khumbu region. Tengboche monastery is located at a vantage point up in a hill serving you an alluring panoramic view of Mt. Everest, Thamserku, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, and Lhotse peaks. Tengboche Monastery is also one of the critical gathering places for celebrating and important occasions for the people in these areas. After a quick monastery tour return to your hotel and rest for today.. Overnight at Tengboche.
Your trek today is mostly descending and is the standard route used by the Tibetan traders heading to Kathmandu and India. Once we cross the Bhotekoshi River, we will continue the slide to Tauranga. After a brief time here we will pass a couple of bridges before reaching Thame. Adjacent to the trail in the hilltop is the famous Gompa of Thame. The view and landscapes from the ridge side path are alluring and memorable. We will pass through various small Sherpa villages before finally making it to the Namche Bazaar. Once in Namche, you can rest and experience the luxury of different Himalayan products. In the evening you can head towards the main market for some Himalayan souvenir shopping. Overnight at Namche Bazaar.
You will trek to the village of Manjo or Phakding today from Namche. The trail is mostly rocky and descending. You will lose about 15oo meters in altitude today, and with the views, you will come to see in the way helps to lessen the exhaustion. You will cross multiple small Himalayan Sherpa villages where you can stop and learn the local lifestyle. You will reach the destination village of today in the afternoon. Overnight at Phakding.
We will view an amazing sunrise from the Phakding village today before starting our trek to Lukla. We only have a short trek today so you can stop and enjoy the hilly landscape surrounding you as much as your heart’s desire. After crossing multiple suspension bridges over Dudh Koshi and its tributaries, you will have an easier descending path in front of you. Resting and descending slowly you will reach Lukla where you will be spending the night. Overnight at Lukla.
After an early morning tea, you can view the majestic Himalayan sunrise one last time before you pack your bags and get ready. Head towards the Lukla airport for a scenic flight back to Kathmandu, you can enjoy the views of the Himalayas from your plane window. After you reach your hotel rest and go on for souvenir hunting in the streets of Thamel. You can find beautiful pictures, garments, ornaments, and handicrafts to take back as a memorandum to your home. Similarly, one can also find organic products like Honey, Tea and different medicinal herbs in the authentic shops here. After shopping, you can try some local cuisine in some of the places here too. You can also enjoy the partying Nightlife in the city by entering some pub and bars here.
After your breakfast today, we will drive to the city of Bhaktapur. Bhaktapur is only about 45 minutes’ drive from your hotel. The first site of today will be the Historical Bhaktapur durbar (palace) square. The Palace was the ruling palace of Malla Kings before Kathmandu city. The golden gate temple, Palace of Fifty-five windows, and the Nyatapola temple square are some of the major attractions in and around the Palace. You can visit the painting schools here, view the Thangkas, and artforms around this fantastic city. You can taste the local Newari cuisine and the famous king curd (Juju Dhau) in Bhaktapur. Return to your hotel and stroll around Thamel in your evening today. Overnight at Kathmandu.
Your last day in Nepal will be full of joy and happiness as you look back to the achievements of your Everest Two pass with the Base camp and Gokyo Lakes in Nepal. We will have a parting breakfast with our crew and staffs, suggestions, feedbacks and experience collection. In some of your spare time seek for some organic goods and products that you can take back home. We will transfer you to the Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) a couple of hours before your flight. We will follow up with your suggestions and push forward for even better services in the coming days.

Notes
* Your big Luggage should be 12 kg each without your Carry bag (small bag). You have to carry 4/5 kg with a small bag during you walking on the Trekking. Your small bag should be over 30 to 40L.
* The flights in the Himalayas might sometimes get delayed or canceled due to bad weather conditions. We will book the flights succeeding it immediately so keep your patience and utilize your time visiting nearby attractions.
* You are free to choose a substitute of treks in other regions if the flight cancellation hampers your Everest and Gokyo lakes trek significantly.
* You have to bring personal medicine box for the mountain. You have to good physical condition is necessary to travel in Nepal. It is recommended to go to a doctor for a checkup before coming to Nepal.
